SPEEDWAY — Bloomington Gold Corvettes USA will bring its “Greatest Corvette Display in North America” to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway June 25-27, 2015.
The announcement came last Thursday by Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles.
“This place turned out to be a place where everyone who wants to feast automobiles comes, and we have a good relationship with Chevrolet and we’re looking for fresh events at IMS and we’re pretty selective in what we do,” he said. “We had the chance to meet the folks at Bloomington Gold and see their connection to Chevrolet and their connection to this country, and to automotive enthusiasts in particular — we were thrilled to have an chance to demonstrate them our facility and ask them to bring their demonstrate to the IMS.”
Bloomington Gold is going into its 42nd year and has been to a few venues in the past, but this is the very first event for them at the famed IMS.
The nation’s most prestigious and longest-running all-Corvette display will include a gigantic one-of-a-kind display of Corvettes with many of the world’s most valuable and collectable Corvettes available for judging on June twenty six and June 27.
Bloomington Gold began operations by hosting the Bloomington Corvette Corral in one thousand nine hundred seventy three at the McLean County Fairgrounds in Bloomington, Ill. The showcase that featured one hundred twelve Corvettes became a hit when 1,500 people attended. Since then, the event has grown substantially through the years, with Five,000 Corvettes expected to show up at the Bloomington Gold showcase at IMS.
“Chevrolet Corvettes have served as the official Rhythm Car twelve times — it has been the vehicle that has paced more than any other,” Boles said. “When you think of the car to take home to put into your garage, it is the Corvette. Having the display here fits our racing message, the automotive message, and it fits this facility being fan-friendly. It’s an chance to come out in the summer and feast the love of the automobile this place has had for the past one hundred years.”
This car display will give thousands of spectators and car enthusiasts the chance to not only see the cars in static display, but see them taking laps around the IMS.
“There is no greater place for a corvette display than the race track,” Fellow Larsen, president and proprietor of Bloomington Gold, said. “We are looking forward to joining the most famous race course in the world and we plan to be here for fairly a while — it’s a good partnership we’re launching into.”
The agreement has the car showcase remaining at IMS from two thousand fifteen to ’17.
“Bloomington Gold just fit this brand — it’s the best in the world for putting on shows and we’re the best in the world at putting on racing,” Boles said. “It’s what our fans expect. If we’re going to have an event at IMS, it should be a very first class event at the highest caliber, and we believe that that is what Bloomington Gold will do. Hopefully we can maintain it and make it long after 2017.”
Fresh and used Corvettes will be available for purchase and attendees will be encouraged to visit the multitude of Corvette vendors at the event.
