Hyundai Creta (Korean: 현대 크레타 ), also known as Hyundai ix25 and, in the Dominican Republic, Hyundai Cantus, is a subcompact crossover SUV produced by Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture by the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai and China’s Beijing Group from 2014. It was very first seen as a thinly veiled “concept” at Auto China (in Beijing), April 2014. In India, the car has three engine variants including the 1.Four and 1.6 litre petrol engines along with 1.6 litre diesel engine with five models for the Creta – Base, S, S+, SX, SX+, SX(O). Each model has a specific set of features which distinguishes it from the others and comes in seven colours. [6] Trinidad & Tobago imports the Indian made Hyundai Creta in three variants, Basic, Advanced and Fully Loaded. They all have 1.6 petrol engines, with automatic transmissions.

The ix25 is based on the Hyundai–Kia platform that underpins the Kia Soul, Hyundai i30, Hyundai Elantra and Kia Cee’d (among other cars), and is similar to the Kia KX3. In India, where it was scheduled to go on sale on twenty one July 2015, it will be badged “Hyundai Creta” after Crete. The name is also intended to suggest connections with “creative”. [7] The Creta/ix25 is intended to become a global model. In the Dominican Republic it is badged “Hyundai Cantus” [8] because in said country the word “creta” is used to describe the labia minora.
The Creta has a powerful engine which comes in three variants. Each of these are present in different models. [9]
- The 1.6 Petrol Dual VTVT engine is available in the Base, E+, and SX+ models .
- The 1.Four CRDi engine is available in Base, S, and S+ models.
- The 1.6 CRDi VGT engine is available in SX, SX+, and SX(O) models.
The Chinese and Brazilian market gets two petrol engines, of 1.6 or Two.0 litres. In India, the car is available with 1.Four and 1.6 litre petrol and diesel engines. [Ten] Also in Brazil, both engines runs with ethanol. In order to improve the Creta lineup further, Hyundai has introduced Creta E+ diesel and SX+ dual tone variants. The Creta SX+, it is now suggested with a dual tone crimson and black or a white and black exterior color options. The SX+ dual tone variant is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol or a diesel engine but, with no automatic gearbox in the petrol version. [11]
The Creta has safety features including Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hillstart Assist Control (HAC), Rear Parking Assist System, and Anti-Lock braking system(Six pack). The Hive assets structure represents structural strength. The six airbag system provides all round protection. One for the driver, one for the front seat passenger, front and rear curtain airbags running the length of the cabin, plus front side airbags.
The car’s Electronic Stability Control (ESC) feature permits for right amount of braking force to each wheel so that the car doesn’t lose direction. The Anti lock Braking System (Six pack) helps the car from skidding on greasy roads. Hillstart Assist Control (HAC) prevents rollback during a hill commence. This feature automatically detects an incline and hits the brakes as the driver is about to accelerate. [12] [13]
The Creta is based on the company’s fresh Fluidic Sculpture Two.0 concept. The fluidic concept was also used for the design of other latest Hyundai cars such as the Fluidic Verna and the Elantra. [14]
The Rear Parking Assist System permits for safe parking in taut spaces. The car is also tooled with day/night inwards rear view mirror for efficient night time driving. The audio system is high tech and comes with one GB internal memory. Touch Screen Audio Movie Navigation System is also present.
