Peter Akau, 38, was walking outside a store on Elizabeth Way in Elizabeth about Ten.30am yesterday when a crimson car mounted the kerb.
Movie footage shows up to capture the vehicle hurtling off the road, sticking into Mr Akau and launching him into the air.
Mr Akau was thrown several metres by the vehicle, which then slammed into an auto-accessories shop.
The economics student told 9NEWS he “thanked God” for his survival.
“I was walking on the footpath and then I just spotted the stud coming toward me,” he said.
“I attempted to dodge him but I could not and then I attempted to set myself so he hit me.”

He said he had injuries to his back, chest, shoulder, ankle and head.
He was treated at the scene before being rushed to Royal Adelaide Hospital.
“It's a miracle that I survived because having seen that footage, you know . can't imagine you know, someone surviving through that, you know it's just a miracle,” Mr Akau said.
Witness Christine Tuckwell told 9NEWS the incident seemed to unfold in “slow movability”.
“Observing the man getting thrown up into the windscreen like that, it was a big shock,” Ms Tuckwell said.
“I think that picture will stay with me for the rest of my days.”
The driver, a 52-year-old man, did not sustain serious injuries and was taken from the scene by police.
He has since been charged with driving without due care.
He has been summonsed to emerge in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court at a later date, police said.
