Three shot near Lake Mendocino

Three teenagers were shot Tuesday evening while walking near Lake Mendocino, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, the shooting occurred around 6:40 p.m. Sept. Five on Lake Mendocino Drive at Portlock Lane.

Discovering family ties at the Chinese temple in Mendocino

Two families whose histories are nothing brief of remarkable recently met in Mendocino. The Look family held a reunion here during the last week of July, and the Hee family gathered in Mendocino the 2nd weekend of August. Both families are descendants of people who sailed to California because of the Gold Rush. Their families contributed to the building of the town of Mendocino; their stories inform not only local history, but also that of our nation. The Looks trace their ancestry.

McDonald’s drive-thru hit-and-run in Ukiah; Redwood Valley man arrested

Officers from the Ukiah Police Department responded with lights and sirens to the McDonald’s Restaurant in the one hundred block of North Orchard Avenue just before seven p.m. Thursday to investigate a report of a vehicle ramming cars in the drive-thru at the location. While officers were enroute, a UPD dispatcher told them that the suspect had pepper-sprayed two civilians, who were attempting to detain him after the collision.
