1 car stolen, numerous others burglarized in Weston neighborhood
WESTON, FLA. (WSVN) – – Police said eleven vehicles were burglarized and one was stolen from a Weston neighborhood, and now the victims want the thieves caught.
Weston resident, Patricia Bernardini, had her car stolen from her house, Wednesday, but eleven other families were also victimized when the burglars ransacked their parked cars within the gated community.
Surveillance movie captured a thief violating into a parked Ford Explorer outside of the home at one thousand four hundred twenty one Camellia Circle. After going through the car’s contents, lights could be seen off camera from the stolen car as it’s driven away.
Bernardini believes the thieves are four teenagers she’s seen in the neighborhood.
“The car that was stolen was here on the circular driveway,” Bernardini said, “so the kids came from that direction over here.”
The burglary happened around four a.m., near Camellia Lane and Three Village Road, in a gated community.
“It’s at least three teenagers, very likely four,” Bernardini said. “They might live here. They might be friends of somebody who lives here, but it’s effortless to get into the neighborhood.”
Her hubby, Tony, knows how dangerous an encounter with these crooks could have been. “It’s concerning,” he said. “My son usually leaves the house at about Four:30 in the morning to go to work, so he could have lightly walked into that situation.”
“I feel bad for the parents because sometimes you have good parents, but you have kids who drape out with the wrong crowd,” Bernardini said.
The president from the homeowner’s association published a post on Facebook to alert residents in the area.
“You have to be vigilant,” Bernardini said. “Just because it’s Weston doesn’t mean it’s not gonna happen here. It happens everywhere.”
The victims said the juveniles arrived in a Lexus and got through security because the guard was sleeping.
If you recognize the burglar caught on camera, call Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. Recall, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $Three,000 prize.
